LIFE ON THE INSIDE
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Bethany Kreklow '24
Student Activist Award Recipient
The Student Activist Award is issued from the Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies. According to the institute’s website, ” The Student Activist Award recognizes an outstanding contribution to activism related to peace and justice issues by a student or student group, and demonstrated commitment to peace and justice issues through participation in activism either on the home campus or in the larger community.” Both recipents, Bethany and Cate Nelson ’24 (not pictured) were two SNC students nominated for this award. Bethany was recognized for work with civic engagement and voter education on campus. “In my role as a Norman Miller Center Community Organizer, I work to promote non-partisan election and voting resource to reduce barriers to voting and civic engagement across campus.” Bethany shares, “Civic engagement in Wisconsin can be a confusing topic for students. I enjoy helping students better understand election laws and details so that they can vote with confidence. As part of my work, I enjoy trying to engage every student on campus with information about elections and voting.” Students interested in learning more of becoming more involved are encouraged to visit the Norman Miller Center for Peace, Justice, & Public Understanding in Michels Commons or contact nmc@snc.edu.
