A night full of fundraising for the American Cancer society, empowering speeches from survivors, and socializing with SNC and De Pere community members will take place for the second time next Saturday. The 2020 Hope Dinner will take place on Saturday March 7th, beginning at 5 pm in the Bemis Center. Colleges Against Cancer —a club on campus that supports research for all types of cancer through fundraisers, runs, dinners, and awareness events— is the creator and host of this event. Several Honors Program students are involved in the preparation for this formal event including; Andrea’ Boyd, Alisa Lewis, Allyson Tebon, and Bethany Zoch, with many more students being involved in the club as well.
The Hope Dinner is a formal event, with attendees ranging from professors, staff, students, families, and community members. Prior to the dinner, a silent auction will take place, full of donated items from the local community and generous students and staff. Baskets range from items like sports tickets, memorabilia, and gift cards. The event will feature a speaker who was directly affected by cancer, and will share her experience during the meal. Half of the proceeds received from ticket sales, the silent auction, and table donations will be sent directly to the American Cancer Society to fund the fight against cancer.
If you would like to join in on the fight against cancer at the Hope Dinner, sign up on eventbrite, or to see what Colleges Against Cancer is all about, please contact the organization’s president, Anna, at Anna.giblin@snc.edu.
